I've received a letter or a visit

what should I do?

Why has CDER contacted me?

We collect debts such as Council Tax, Parking, Road Traffic and Road User Charges, Commercial Rent Arrears, Business Rates and Magistrate's Court fines on behalf of clients that include local authorities, Transport for London, Highways England and HMCTS.

These organisations will have made attempts to contact you about the debt.

Having been unable to resolve the matter directly with you, they have passed the debt to us to collect on their behalf.

Please do not ignore it, even if you don't think it is your debt, as this could lead to additional fees or further enforcement action.

For Council Tax, Business Rates and Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), the debt has been referred to us by a Warrant or Liability Order that gives us the power to enforce the debt.

Enforcement action may include removing and selling your goods to raise the outstanding amount. To avoid this happening, you must not ignore the correspondence you have received from us. The problem will not go away.

If you contact us, we can help you find a solution to resolve the matter.

If you would like to understand more about the Collection and Enforcement process, please go to our Frequently asked Questions page.

What if I don't believe I owe this debt?

You may need to submit information or evidence to us to prevent further action. More information on this is available here. Please do not ignore the notice. It will not go away and may result in further charges.
